My name is Ming Chen, a weak scholar(LOL), experienced in the fitness industry.
Since joining the fitness industry in 2007, I have had 10 years of industry experience, spending the first 5 years as a coach and a manager. After 5 years of running a GYM, I have earned a large sum of money (questionable) and finally, u know, i'm rich, I don't lick the bottle cap after running out of the protein powder.
Nowadays, gymnasiums bloom everywhere, but many students still do not know how to choose a suitable gym, for they have no related experience.
Based on my ten years of industry experience, I would like to share with you the essential features of the GYM that can suit your own needs. I welcome all your suggestions when there are some other standards but surely I will not change mine
Now, FIVE key points for choosing a GYM! (SERIOUS)
First, Short Distance
I have noticed that many students just wasted their money as well as their chance to improve themselves, as they paid for an annual card while they just excercised for only twice for three times.
Through phone interviews, I find that there are mainly two reasons why they paid less attention to excercising: being too busy+ easily giving up. If the GYM is far away from where you live, just thinking about the time you spend on the road will stop you from coming to excercise; if the GYM is just located next to your home, it will be relatively easier for you to keep the habit of excercising. As most people haven't developed the fitness habit, their requirement of the fitness habit still lies in the distance. In this case, you must consider this while making choices: SHORT DISTANCE!
Second, Complete Equipment
What is the standard of the complete equipment? All the basic parts of your body can be trained. Then what are the basic parts? The muscles determining the basic shape of your body are: chest, arms, legs, back, abs, shoulder and so on. Each part requires at least one fixed training machine, and large muscle groups such as legs and back and chest need at least two fixed-line machines; Smith machine and free squat rack are essential. Relatively speaking, the GYM with those machines is professional.
What? I have talked a lot? OK, Let me put it simply. Just check the numbers of the fixed machines in the GYM, ten of which can be enough (the treadmills are not included);the dumbbells should be available from 1.5 kg to 40 kg or more, with each weight at least two pairs so as to meet the needs of both girls and boys.
For experienced fitness enthusiasts, sometimes the right dumbbells and barbells are sufficient to meet their daily training requirements. Fixtures are important for beginners because dumbbells and barbells are less stable and they can be easily injured, while fixtures are more stable and easier for them to get started. So, remember: the equipment must be COMPLETE!
Third, Not Crowded During Peak Hours
In general, the peak hours in the GYM are from 6:00-8:00pm. If this period is your only choice for excercising, you'd better make sure whether it's crowded before you choose the GYM. Just imagine: you only have one hour for excercising and you have to spend 40 minutes waiting for the machines. How terrible!
Fourth, Sufficient Bathing Facilities
How wonderful it is when you can take a shower after all the dripping sweat! Therefore, when you choose a GYM, you must take a look at whether the shower head is large enough, the water flow big enough, and whether there are enough hair dryers and lockers.
Fifth, Comprehensive and Sincere Service from the Fitness Coaches and Consultants
The one who meets you first in the GYM and sells the fitness cards is the consultant. He or she will inform you when to excercise or do the fitness test and what activities you may be interested in.
After you become the member, there should be a fitness coach to do a fitness test (for free) for you, create your body data files and make regular appointments with you for retesting, so that you can know more about the changes of your physical condition.
When doing the fitness test, the coach will also recommend a personal trainer for you, but you can consider whether you need one or not. If he keeps pursuading you to pay for the personal trainer after you say "no", you may...hit him with a barbell piece. Of course, if you say "no", the coaches in the GYM still arrange regular fitness tests for you, introduce to you the equipment, teach you the basic fitness common sense, then you can say the GYM provides good service.
Group Excercise Coach: If you are interested in group classes and yoga, I suggest you take a look at the lesson plans to see if you like them or if the time fits you. (At present, there are two types of collective classes in the domestic gyms: charge and free. It depends on your actual demand and it is the expertise of the trainer but not the prices that matters.)
Those are my personal standards of choosing the GYM, of which Gomins GYM can now just reach about 65%. In 2018, we will strive to reach above 90% with a new start.
No matter where you are excercising, Gomins GYM wishes you can find the most suitable one and keep the fitness habit, achieving the best results at the lowest price.
